Malte "Dipstick" Lorenz
Malte Lorenz is co-founder of Thro by Marlo Lorenz, a design and manufacturing firm that makes soft home products found at retailers such as Target, Walmart, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond and many more. Aside from his involvement the day-to-day operations of Thro Ltd., Malte’s passion for aviation has led him to extend his management of corporate aircraft beyond his own company to those of select clients around the world.
Malte started his flying career at age 18 with a commuter airline, PBA Airlines, in the Douglas DC-3 and the Martin 404. By age 26, he had advanced to the position of Captain on the McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 with Continental Airlines. Malte went on to start an aircraft management company in the 1980’s and has managed the flight departments of companies such as Liz Claiborne and Lehman Brothers operating a variey of Gulfstream and Sikorsky aircraft.
Malte holds a “5 square” Airline Transport Pilot certificate, including ASEL, ASES, AMEL, AMES & Rotorcraft. He is type-rated in over 15 aircraft and helicopters, with over 16,000 hours to date. Malte has owned and operated many aircraft and currently owns a North American T-28B “Trojan” and a Bell 407.
